Service of hearing aids depends on the type of hearing aid. We typically invite patients back every 6 months for hearing aid servicing. We would also see patients dispensed with aids elsewhere or online for routine service appointments if required.
A service appointment at Sonant Hearing Clinic
This includes
Visual examination of the outer ear, ear canal and eardrum
Visual examination of the hearing aid and its accompanying dome or earmould for cracks, corrosion, loose connections or general wear and tear.
Check the connection between the receiver wire and the body of the hearing aid
Checked the tensile strength of the receiver wire for over flexibility (for wearers for often pull out units from their ears using the wires!)
Check the sound outlet and filter of the receiver
Check the dome for pliancy, blockage, tears, and moisture
Check the microphone for debris
Check the program and or volume button, multi-function buttons for sensitivity, stiffness
If battery-operated, check for corrosion around battery drawer
If rechargeable, check the charger connection points for debris. Check battery door for easy opening and closing.
Check the hearing aid charger box for dust or debris which can interrupt the connection to the hearing aids
Check custom RIC mould ear moulds or CRTE for cracks, ear wax blockage
Moisture vacuum with professional vacuum system
Subjective listening check
Check the hearing aid body for cracks or loose components
Check the hearing aid shoulder/elbow for moisture, deformed shape, missing filters, moist filter, gap in connection to body of hearing aid.
Check the tubing for moisture, wax or splits and loose connections.
Check the sound outlet of the hearing aid.
Check the earmould or coupled dome for pliancy, blockage, tears, and moisture
Check the microphone for debris
Check the program and or volume button, multi-function buttons for sensitivity, stiffness
If battery-operated, check for corrosion around battery drawer. Check battery door for easy opening and closing.
If rechargeable, check the charger connection points for debris.
Check the hearing aid charger box for dust or debris which can interrupt the connection to the hearing aids and clean
Check custom RIC mould ear moulds for for cracks, ear wax blockage
Moisture check hearing aid with professional vacuum system

Check the program and or volume control button
Check the hearing aid body for cracks or loose components
Check the program/or volume button/ multi-function button for stiffness or if too loose when pressed.

If rechargeable, check the charger connection points for debris on the hearing aids.
Check the hearing aid charger box for dust or debris which can interrupt the connection to the hearing aids.
