When you come to see us at Sonant Hearing for a Hearing Aid Test Assessment, we shall review each of the points below;
Medical History
This would help us ascertain any related conditions or medications likely to affect, cause or alter your hearing over time. If you become a client at Sonant hearing, during yearly reviews we can inform your GP of changes to your hearing status in line with changes to your medical history and medication. Therefore keeping other related healthcare professionals concerned with you duly informed. Within your general medical history, we will review your vision status, dexterity, mobility and cognition.
Audiological assessment
We will perform otoscopy to observe the status of your ears. Occluding wax or debris is known to temporarily alter the outcome of results for air conduction thresholds. This will need to be removed first. Unlike most other hearing care suppliers. Wax removal can be provided in-house at Sonant Hearing and therefore the client doesn't need to go elsewhere and return back to continue their hearing test.
Hearing tests will be done to assess the type of hearing loss, configuration and degree of loss. The client's loudness discomfort levels can also be obtained if the client has alluded to low tolerance for loud sounds during history taking. Clients with significant tinnitus and hyperacusis would not typically be asked to perform a loudness discomfort level test. A speech hearing test will be conducted to find out the client's ability to process speech in noise. We may also perform tympanometry - middle ear immitance testing to find out out how well the status of the ear drum and middle ear.
Financial considerations
This will be accounted for when considering your hearing solution including whether the client is from a health insurance provider, is paying directly, wishes to pay monthly or is due a re-imbursement from a 3rd party.
