Hearing Aid Repairs
If your hearing aids are not working. The first thought would be that the hearing aids may need to be repaired.
There are a few questions to be considered initially.
1.) Have the hearing aids been serviced recently?
2.) Have the hearing aids been properly and thoroughly cleaned recently? (The hearing aid microphones, hearing aid receivers and hearing aid sound outlets and tubes if applicable have all been recently cleaned out for debris and ear wax residues.)
3.) Have the hearing aids had their batteries replaced recently? Have they been charged recently? Has the hearing aid charger presented any inconsistencies or problems on charging.
4.) Have the ears and hearing of the hearing aid owner/user been checked recently. If your hearing aid's have not been programmed to match your latest hearing threshold then they may need adjusting to match your hearing. (Hearing Aid Adjusting )
If all 4 questions above have been answered with a yes.
Here are a few options of what you can do with your faulty hearing aids:
Check if the hearing aids can be repaired under their current warranty. Most hearing aids have a warranty at purchase. You could find out from your hearing aid audiologist or hearing aid dispenser if the hearing aid can be repaired.
If the hearing aids are out of warranty, and can't be repaired at the current dispenser. Audiologists at Sonant Hearing can repair the hearing aids for you. If the hearing aids information need to be updated. We can check your hearing aids and reprogram the hearing aids for you.
If the hearing aids are beyond repair, the hearing aids can be donated to a hearing aid charity.

Upgrade your hearing aid. Overtime, hearing aids do not process sounds as efficiently. The microphones (especially the directional microphones do not adapt to changes in noise and speech like they are supposed to. Like phones and computers, the hearing aid processor speed may no longer be as quick to respond and adapt to changes in speed and noise.
Just because you are hearing some sounds with the hearing aids doesn't mean you are hearing everything you should. (Remember how your hearing loss in the beginning may not have seemed as significant until you had it improved.)
